Bluff Hill Lookout, Napier

Bluff Hill lies at the north-east end of the Napier Hill limestone outcrop, with a steep cliff overlooking the Port of Napier.

Bluff Hill lies at the north-east end of the Napier Hill limestone outcrop, with a steep cliff overlooking the Port of Napier. Due to its strategic location, the Bluff Hill Lookout was occupied by guns of 77 Battery 10 Coast Regiment NZA during World War II. They have now been replaced by a plaque that records the army's presence on the site. You can drive up the convoluted Lighthouse Road, or walk up the Bluff Hill Walkway from the intersection of Karaka Road and Hornsey Road. The Lookout offers magnificent views over Hawke Bay, Cape Kidnappers, and the cruise liners and cargo ships at Port Napier.
