The MTG Hawke's Bay Tai Ahuriri is a museum, theatre and art gallery in Napier, housed across 3 distinct buildings. The original building from 1865 was designed as an athenaeum, while architect James Augustus Louis Hay's Art Deco style building from 1936 was constructed as a sturdier space for preserving the significant cultural collection. The permanent exhibit on the 1931 earthquake documents the impact of the disaster on the people, townships and local landscape. Also of note is the stunning Taonga Māori exhibition, as well as decorative arts and fine arts from 20th century New Zealand.

Guy Natusch's Modernist MTG Century Theatre was built in 1977 as a concert chamber to commemorate Napier's centennial as a city, and has a 330 seat theatre for performing arts, film and lectures. It also hosts events such as the Chamber Music New Zealand's Hawke's Bay's concerts, the New Zealand International and Italian film festivals.
