The Nuuk Cathedral or Church of Our Savior is a wooden Lutheran church from 1848-'49 that stands out for its bright brick-red color. In contrast to the exterior, the interiors are clad in white panels. The 2 large brass candlestick stands next to the altar were a gift from the Norwegian Church.
There are 2 notable statues near the church – Greenlandic poet and composer Jonathan Petersen, and Danish-Norwegian priest Hans Egede, who is also known as the Greenlandic Apostle. The latter statue stands on a hill from where you can get views of Godthåbsfjorden and Håbets Ø.
