The Palazzo degli Elefanti or Elephants' Palace is a 17thcentury building on Piazza Duomo that is the seat of the Town Hall of Catania. The northern façade is by Carmelo Battaglia, while the rest of the facades are as part Vaccarini's designs. The portal is flanked by 4 granite columns, supporting the central balcony. The window gables of the middle level as well as the balcony feature carved elephants from which the building gets its name. The entrance hall has two 18thcentury carriages, of which one is used during the Feast of Saint Agatha to bring the mayor to the church of Saint Agatha. The building is noted for its art, which include paintings by Giuseppe Sciuti on the second level.
