The National Museum of Military History was one of the earliest museums in Bulgaria, established in 1916.

The National Museum of Military History was one of the earliest museums in Bulgaria, established in 1916. It houses a collection of almost a million items of Bulgarian and European military history, displayed over 40,000 m2 of outdoor space and 5000 m2 of indoor area. The building has 4 levels of displays exploring warfare in Bulgaria from the time of the Thracians, through weapons, medals, honors, uniforms, information boards, photographs, documents, flags, and dioramas. The outdoors showcase Soviet-made military hardware such as Scud missile launchers and MiG fighters, artillery, tanks, vehicles and aircraft. The complex has archives and a library where you can read about these legendary wars.
