Sarajevo was founded in the 15th century by Ottoman general Isa-Beg Isaković at Stari Grad on the banks of the Miljacka River. At the heart of the Old City lies the Baščaršija market, lined with oriental style crafts shops, and attractions such as the Gazi Husrev-Beg Mosque, sahat-kula (clock tower), Sebilj (fountain), Gazi Husrev-Beg's Hamam and bezistan, Morića Han, Old Church, Old Synagogue which houses the Jewish Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, New Synagogue, Sevdah Art House, and Vijećnica. Explore the area around the market to see the Careva Džamija (Emperor's Mosque), Sacred Heart Cathedral, Tašlihan, Latin Bridge, and Inat Kuća.
