Housed in the 16th century building of Sephardim Il kal vjezu which is the oldest synagogue in the country, the Jewish Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina explores the heritage of the Jewish community here. The Ottoman Empire welcomed the Sephardic Jews exiled from Spain during the Inquisition in the 15th century, and the community flourished till the Nazi persecution during World War II. The museum showcases ritual objects, photographs, paintings, documents, maps, and other artifacts.
