Built in 1909 after the previous church was destroyed in the fire of 1904, the Ålesund Church is a parish church in the heart of the town. Designed by Sverre Knudsen, the stone and marble church has a remarkably wide chancel. It is noted for its frescoes and stained glass windows by Martin Enevold Thømt and Oddvar Straume.
