Togan-ji is a Soto Zen Buddhist temple with a 15 metre tall bright green statue of the Buddha from the 16thcentury. As a testament to its ties with India, the complex contains a Shivalinga and statue of the Hindu Goddess Saraswati. The temple grounds of pine and bamboo also have a large wooden block which is believed to absolve past sins when touched.
