The Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park is a 15,000-hectare protected national park with lush temperate rainforest, untouched bushland, placid creeks, and dreamy mountains. The park is also historically significant for its rock engravings and other Aboriginal art. Driving is the easiest way to navigate the area, while cycling, boating, and horse-riding options are also available. It is a great area for picnics with facilities at Bobbin Head, Appletree Bay, and The Basin. Camping, and hiking along the Great North Walk and trails through the Duffys Forest and Terrey Hills area are also popular activities. The Barrenjoey Headland at the most northern tip of Pittwater has the Barrenjoey Lighthouse, and offers great views of Broken Bay and the Central Coast.
