Freshwater Beach is a swimming and surfing beach to the north of Manly. Flanked by the Harbord and Queenscliff headlands on both ends and skirting a stretch of reliable sandbank breaks, the beach has consistent waves averaging 1.5 metres which are good for surfing, though the rips produced may be dangerous. Freshwater is part of the Manly-Freshwater National and World Surfing Reserve. The northern end has an 8 lane 50 metre rock pool with saltwater, and a small creek with fresh water from which the beach gets its name.
