Located on the waterfront in Sydney Harbour, the Taronga Zoo is home to the largest group of native and exotic wildlife in New South Wales, with over 4000 animals across 350 species. The 28 hectare park is divided into 8 zoogeographic regions, with various trails going around the different enclosures. The Kids Trail showcases wombats, quokkas, kangaroos, emu, Tasmanian Devils, spiders, and farm animals such as chickens, pig, goats, and sheep. There are various other paths such as the ✓Seal Walk through penguins and seals, ✓Rainforest Trail through hippos, binturong, and monkeys, ✓Australian Walkabout with kangaroos, emus, wallaby, koalas, echidna, platypus, meerkats, and cassowary, ✓Reptile World with Komodo dragons, crocodiles, and frogs, ✓Tiger Trek, and ✓Free-flight Bird Show. The zoo organizes various shows and keeper talks, animal encounters, Wild Ropes Adventure, and other activities for children. The Sky Safari Gondola Ride offers an overview of the zoo, and you can further explore it on foot. There is also a zoo train that runs from Backyard to Bush to Sun Bears.

The easiest way to reach the zoo is to take a 12-minute ride on the Taronga Zoo ferry service from the Circular Quay.
