Lake Wanaka lies at the heart of the Otago Lakes in South Island, just a 50 minute drive to the north of Queenstown through the Crown Range.

Lake Wanaka lies at the heart of the Otago Lakes in South Island, just a 50 minute drive to the north of Queenstown through the Crown Range. The 42 kilometre long lake is more than 300 metres deep, making it the fourth largest lake in New Zealand. It is situated at an altitude of 300 metres, and offers breathtaking views of the Mt Aspiring National Park. While jetboating, sailing, and kayaking on the water are popular in summer, skiing and snowboarding on the nearby slopes of Treble Cone and Cardrona Alpine Resort draw crowds of visitors.
