It is open to the public as the Sammy Marks Museum, showcasing the interiors which have mostly been preserved in their original state. The house offers a peek into the domestic life of a wealthy family in late 19th century Pretoria.
The 48-room luxurious mansion is tastefully decorated with oil paintings, exquisite porcelain, and silverware which reflect their wealth and status. Highlights include the well-stocked library with books spanning a wide range of topics, the billiards room which has paintings on silk and photographs of the family, and the kitchen with 5 ovens and a 10-plate stove. Around the house are a tennis court, and lush gardens where visitors can picnic.
