The Founders Heritage Park is a museum dedicated to Nelson's history and colonial heritage. A reproduction of a historic village dating from 1880-1930, the quaint 5-hectare area is filled with characteristic streets lined with donated original buildings and historic replicas, including a primary school, a childcare centre, replica of the 1876 building of the Bank of New South Wales, Nelson Volunteer Fire Brigade Engine House, L'Artisan Bakery, Crown Livery Stables, windmill, and the 19th century St Peter's Church, featuring traditional Roman Catholic Methodist furniture. The Hop & Beer Museum showcases Nelson's rich brewing heritage dating back to 1843, while the adjacent Founders Brewery Bar & Café offers samples of craft beer made on site. The Nelson Railway Society offers train and railcar rides through the park. Also on display is the Bristol Freighter plane, which is open to visitors. The gardens have relaxing picnic spots. You can also view artisans at work weaving, screen printing, making jewelry, painting, and creating metal and wood artifacts, which can be bought in the windmill store. The park hosts events such as the Founders Book Fair.
