Alaska has more private planes and pilots per capita than any other state in the USA. The Alaska Aviation Heritage Museum presents Alaska's aviation legacy since its beginning on 3-July 1913 in Fairbanks. Located on the south shore of Lake Hood, the busiest seaplane base in the world, the museum exhibits over 30 historic aircraft - from the 1928 Stearman C2B to the 1974 McDonald Douglas F-15A. Also on display are aviation-related artifacts, interactive displays and memorabilia. The reconstructed air traffic control tower from Merrill Field has radios streaming live feed of the air traffic controllers bringing the planes in at the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport.
