The Mon Repos (My Rest) was built in the early 19th century on the site of ancient Corfu as a gift from the British Lord High Commissioner of Ionian Island – Frederick Dam to his wife Diamantina Palatino. Used variously as a summer home for King George I, residence of Italian governor and a Fine Arts School, it today houses an Archaeological Museum showcasing Ionian finds and artefacts found in Paleopolis.
