Located in the old Palace of the Páez de Castillejo, the Archaeological Museum of Cordoba showcases over 33,000 artifacts from prehistoric times to the Moorish period in the Middle Ages. On display are mosaics, sculpture, ceramics, architectural elements and cultural objects of historic and aesthetic value across Iberian, Roman, Visigothic and Mujedar cultural eras. Highlights include the Bronze Age funerary stela Estela de Ategua, the excavated Roman Theatre in the basement, the Iberian Leone of Nueva Carteya, and the Roman sculpture of the god Mithra sacrificing a bull.
