Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium, Brisbane

Named after astronomer Sir Thomas Brisbane, after whom the city is also named, the Planetarium on the grounds of the Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens has a 12.5 metre diameter Cosmic Skydome (hemispherical projection dome), the largest in Queensland.

Named after astronomer Sir Thomas Brisbane, after whom the city is also named, the Planetarium on the grounds of the Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens has a 12.5 metre diameter Cosmic Skydome (hemispherical projection dome), the largest in Queensland. Its observatory features a permanently mounted Zeiss 15cm refractor and a Meade 25.4cm Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope through which visitors can view the moon, planets, and star clusters during nights. The foyer and gallery have extensive space exploration and astronomy displays, including a replica of Neil Armstrong's moon landing space suit, and numerous models of spacecraft and astronomical instruments.
