Mt. Coot-Tha Lookout, Brisbane

The highest point in Brisbane, the Mt. Coot-tha Lookout is visible from most parts of the city.

The highest point in Brisbane, the Mt. Coot-tha Lookout is visible from most parts of the city. The vantage point offers spectacular views over the city all the way to Moreton Bay. Before the Moreton Bay was inhabited, Mount Coot-tha was home to the local Turrbal Aboriginal people, and offers a glimpse into Aboriginal history and culture. The hill was used as a military base during World War II, and once had anti-aircraft guns installed here. Though no longer present, the area still recalls its association with World War II via the Kokoa Trail which was named to honor the Australian soldiers who marched along the Kokoda Track in World War II.
