Anzac Square, located between Ann Street and Adelaide Street in Brisbane, is dedicated to Australia's military heritage. The heritage location has a state memorial, the Shrine of Remembrance, honoring personnel of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. The Greek Classic Revival structure has a Helidon sandstone rotunda with 18 columns signifying 1918 when World War I ended. Inside is an Eternal Flame in a brass urn. There is also the World War II Shrine of Memories dedicated to the 60,000 Queenslanders who fought in World War I, along with memorials for Queensland soldiers who fought during the Second Boer War, World War II, Vietnam War and campaigns in Korea, Borneo and New Guinea. The best time for tourists to visit the place is during the Armistice Day celebrations on the 11th of November each year, when it is a spectacle to watch.
