The Longues-sur-Mer Battery was part of Germany's Atlantic Wall coastal fortifications along the Bay of Seine between Omaha and Gold Beach, installed to oppose the 6 June 1944 attacks. It comprised four 152-mm navy guns in concrete casemates, a 120-mm gun, command post, shelters for personnel and ammunition, and several defensive machine-gun emplacements, much of which is intact today.
