The Topography of Terror Museum documents the repression and atrocities of the Nazi era.

The Topography of Terror Museum documents the repression and atrocities of the Nazi era. It is located on the site where the headquarters of the Gestapo, SS, and Main Security Office once stood. A section of the Berlin Wall is visible along the Niederkirchnerstraße, and is a designated historic monument.

The open-air display in the trenches throws light on the Weimar Republic, the rise of the Nazis to power, their policy of racial eugenics, and how Berlin was affected through all of it. Excavated ruins are also visible here.

The exhibition at the documentation centre on “Topography of Terror: Gestapo, SS and Reich Security Main Office on Wilhelm- and Prinz-Albrecht-Straße” covers in depth the crimes committed by the SS and police during the “Third Reich”. It documents the works of individual Nazi leaders who authorized and recommended extreme measures, and the plans for racial eugenics, including the Wannsee Protocol which was finalized on this site.

Across the road are the former Nazi Ministry of Aviation of Hermann Göring (now the finance ministry), the former Prussian parliament building (now Abgeordnetenhaus) and Martin-Gropius-Bau exhibition hall.
