The Plaza Ayuntamiento is the Town Hall Square of Valencia, surrounded by historic buildings and administrative offices. The highlight of the square is the Town Hall that is the seat of the City Council, and also houses the municipal archives, a museum, and various other administrative offices. Also on the square are the Central Post Office (Edificio de Correos), Teatro Rialto, and Falla Municipal. At the centre is a fountain surrounded by a green patch. The square is occupied by several flower stalls, and is a popular meeting point for locals. It is beautifully illuminated at night. The adjoining streets are a shopping destination with good retail outlets and boutiques.
