The Independence Monument in Rinia Park was installed on 28th November 2014 to commemorate the centennial of Albania’s independence. Created by Visar Obrija and Kai Kiklas, the 6.5 metres tall by 5.5 metres wide monument is shaped like an open tower of two parts, one representing the roof and the other the floor. The grave of first Albanian President and Prime Minister Ismail Qemali lies near the base.
