The Château de Pourtalès is an 18th century castle set amidst 24 hectares of English-style gardens with a farm, greenhouse, dovecote, fountain, and ponds. Originally owned by Joseph Guérault who built the fortifications of Strasbourg in the 18th century, the castle was transformed at the turn of the 19th century by Countess Melanie de Pourtalès to designs by architect Breffendille and became a hub of European diplomacy.
