The Musée du Petit Palais in Avignon has a notable collection of early Renaissance paintings from Avignon and Italy. The original building dates back to 1320, but it owes its current Renaissance look to 15th century renovations. Used variously as the livery of Cardinal Arnaud de Via, a Catholic school and then technical school, it is today a part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the 'Historic Centre of Avignon: Papal Palace, Episcopal Ensemble and Avignon Bridge'. Apart from the Campana collection of paintings, the museum houses regional Provencal paintings and a collection of medieval Romanesque and Gothic sculptures from the 12th – 16th centuries.
