The Cathédrale Notre-Dame des Doms d'Avignon, better known as the Avignon Cathedral, is a 12thcentury Roman Catholic cathedral. Built originally in Provencal Romanesque style, it was renovated in the 15thand 17thcentury. The salient feature of its façade is a gilded statue of the Virgin Mary atop the steeple. Highlights of the interiors include the 12thcentury marble throne of Popes, and the 14thcentury Gothic mausoleum of Pope John XXII. You can get great views of the Rhone Valley from here.
