Based on the Pergamon Altar, it has a large grandstand (Zeppelinhaupttribüne) which was once crowned by a Swastika, and a smaller stand. Its name is a reference to Ferdinand Graf von Zeppelin who landed on this site with one of his airships in August 1909.
