Completed in 1981, the Wöhrder See is a man-made reservoir extending over 2.6 kms along the flood plains of the Pegnitz river, acting as a buffer when the river gets inundated. The banks of the lake are part of a conservation area, with paths for running, biking and walking. The Lower See is used for boating, while the Upper See is a nature reserve.
