The Historische Kunstbunker is a complex of underground shelters 24 metres under the Nuremberg Castle that were used to protect valuable art works from World War II air-raids. The original medieval rock-cut beer cellars were modified to maintain the right ambient conditions for storing art and other valuables. Today, it hosts contemporary art exhibitions and can be visited by guided tours.
