The Cours Julien is Marseille's hipster neighborhood, home to artists, musicians, and the bohemian bourgeoisie, better known as bo-bo. Once home to the fruits and vegetables wholesale market till 1970, the part-pedestrian street is today lined with trendy cafés, restaurants, theatres, bookshops, galleries, playgrounds, and tattoo parlors. Walking around the area is a treat for art lovers, as the facades are covered in colorful street art and graffiti of various kinds. The open square has a fountain, and hosts a market selling organic products on Wednesday. The Espace Julien concert hall presents live acts.
