Originally built in the 16thcentury in Catalan-inspired Late Gothic style, it has 5 radiating chapels along with a Renaissance nave and aisles. The Neo-Classical narthex was added to the façade in the 19thcentury, with Doric columns flanking the entrance. Highlights of the interiors include the marble altar of the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament, and neoclassical mausoleum of the Duke of Monferrato.

One of its most striking features is the Campanile or Bell Tower, a 20 metre tall sandstone structure with an octagonal buttressed base and pyramidal spire covered in majolica, topped by a copper sphere with a cross finial. Climb up to the top for great views over Alghero.
