The Panathenaic Stadium hosted the first modern Olympic Games in 1896. Built entirely from Pentelic marble, it is located on the site of the ancient Panathenaic Games. Outside the stadium is the Xylothrafstis (wood-cutter) sculpture by Dimitrios Filippotis.
