The Piazza del Duomo is the main square in Catania, surrounded by historic Baroque buildings rebuilt in the 17thcentury after the earthquake. To its north is the Palazzo degli Elefanti which is the seat of the Town Hall. The magnificent Cathedral of Saint Agatha lies to the east, adjacent to which is the Terme Achilliane. To the south is the Porta Uzeda, Palazzo del Seminario dei Chierici and Diocesan Museum, while the western edge has commercial establishments. At the centre of the square is the iconic Elephant Fountain, while towards the south is the dell'Amenano Fountain, leading the way to the Pescheria.
