This section is part of the Wet Tropics of Queensland, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its unique biodiversity.

The Daintree's outstanding coastal scenery includes an unusual combination of mountain ranges with deep gorges, tropical rainforest, white sandy beaches and offshore reefs. See the different types of identified rainforest - from the tall forests of the coastal plains with massive curling liana growth and exotic buttress roots, to the Bull kauri conifers and middle altitude forests with characteristic small-leafed species, and the montane forests with heath-like vegetation. Cruise on the Daintree river that drains the area and spot crocodiles around you. Get up close with the diverse flora and fauna of the mangrove forests which line the mouth of the Daintree's creeks and rivers.

Cape Tribulation has dazzling white sand beaches along the warm, azure sea. Mt Pieter Botte rises to the west of Cape Tribulation with massive granite outcrops, and the summit provides breathtaking views of vast undisturbed forest. Visit Mount Alexandra Lookout for spectacular views of the Daintree River and the Coral Sea. To the south, the horizon is dominated by the huge granite boulders of Thornton Peak, one of highest mountains in Queensland.
