The Archaeological Museum in Zagreb is one of the most versatile museums in Europe, showcasing excavated treasures from its collection of over 450,000 varied artifacts and monuments from Croatia and neighboring regions. It is broadly divided into 5 main galleries - Prehistory, Egypt, Antiquity, Middle Ages, Coins and Medals. The ground floor showcases one of the largest numismatic collections in Europe. The next floor has the Greek and Roman Collection spanning Antiquity to the Middle Ages, with over 1500 vases. The top floor has the collection on Egypt comprising bronze figures of deities, stone and wooden sculptures, funerary equipment, jewelry, pottery, papyrus, ushabti statuettes, sarcophagi and mummies, as well as Prehistory where tourists can literally get lost in the sea of 78000 artifacts. The museum courtyard has a lapidarium displaying Roman era stone monuments.
