Housed in the Auberge de Provence, the National Museum of Archaeology explores Maltese history from the Għar Dalam phase of the Neolithic period (5000 BC) to the Phoenician Period (400 BC). On display are pottery, stone tools, sculpture, amulets, jewelry and various other finds arranged chronologically. Highlights include the Sleeping Lady sculpture from the Hal Saflieni Hypogeum, temple model from Ta' Haġrat, fat statues and Venus de Malta from Ħaġar Qim, stone friezes and sacrificial altars from the Tarxien Temples, Ta' Bistra catacombs, Red Skorba ornaments, Phoenician anthropomorphic sarcophagus, and an Obsidian Core.
