Cruises & Water Tours, Stockholm

Stockholm’s picturesque and extensive waterways provide a great way to explore the city. From Lake Malaren through Norrstrom and Djurgarden Canal to the Baltic Sea with its Stockholm archipelago cluster, there are several cruises to suit your sightseeing requirements.

Get great views of the central islands on a Stockholm Bridges Cruise, which takes you under 15 of the main bridges, starting from Nybrokajen through ●Gamla Stan (Old Town), ●Sodermalm, ●Hammarby Sjöstad, ●Lilla Essingen, ●Stora Essingen, ●Djurgården and back to ●Stromkajen.

The Royal Canal Tour takes you through the greener and calmer parts of the city, by Djurgården, Gamla Stan, Skeppsholmen and Östermalm, offering a good introduction to the different areas. The Historical Canal Tour goes around Kungsholmen, with views of Långholmen and Reimersholme, giving you an understanding of the historical development of Stockholm.

Hop on hop off cruises are also available between 10 am to 4.20 pm. Tours start from Nybroplan and run through ●Vasa Museum, ●Skeppsholmen, the picturesque island housing the Museum of Modern Art, ●Djurgarden where you can have fun on the insane rollercoaster rides at Tivoli Grona Lund, ●Cruise Berth at the port, ●Fotografiska near the Katarinahissen elevator that takes you 38 metres up to heights of Sodermalm for great views over the old city and the harbor, and ●Gamla Stan.

There are also hop on hop off tours on Brunnsviken Lake around the Royal Haga National Park, an English landscape park that houses Swedish royalty. Stop at ●Haga Södra, ●Vasaslätten (Gustaf III’s Pavillion, Copper Tents and Temple of the Echo), ●Bergianska Botanic Garden, and ●Fjärilshuset - Butterfly House and Haga Ocean.

The best way to explore different islands of the Stockholm Archipelago is on a cruise. Explore Fjäderholmarna where the archipelago starts, visit Vaxholm - the main city of the archipelago with well-preserved wooden houses from the 18th to 19th century, traverse the Stromma Canal to historical Sandhamn in the outer archipelago or spend the day on the ancient Viking island of Birka which is also a UNESCO World Heritage site with a Viking museum, graves, and reconstructed Viking living quarters.

There are cruises through Lake Malaren up to Ekero Island, where you can see the breathtaking Drottningholm Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage site and a residence of the Swedish royal family.

If you are up for some adventure, explore the waterways on a RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat) from Central Stockholm, and pass by the Stockholm National Museum, the Djurgården Island with Vasa Museet and Gröna Lund, through Fjäderholmarnas up to Vaxholm.

You can add a grand coach tour to your Stockholm cruise for a complete view of the city.
