Nestled on a hill at a height of 116 metres, the Lindos Acropolis is an archaeological site with fascinating ruins from ancient times, as well as fortifications added by the Knights of St John in the Middle Ages. The ramparts of the medieval castle run for over 500 metres, enclosing the Byzantine Church of St John and the ancient complex. Ruins of the sanctuary include a monumental Propylaea and Doric temple of Athena Lindia from the 4th century BC, Hellenistic Stoa from 200 BC, and a Roman temple from 300 AD.
