Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights of Rhodes, Rhodes

The Palace of the Grand Masters of the Knights of Rhodes is the highlight of the Knights' Quarter in the Old Town, an imposing medieval fortification built by the Knights of St John.

The Palace of the Grand Masters of the Knights of Rhodes is the highlight of the Knights' Quarter in the Old Town, an imposing medieval fortification built by the Knights of St John. With a central courtyard and rounded towers, the Gothic complex harks back to the Middle Ages, but is actually mostly a recreation of the 20th century, after the previous structure was largely destroyed in an explosion. Its highlight is its collection of mosaics, some of which depict figures from Greek mythology.
