It has over 2000 animals spread over 135 acres, with the 'Maryland Wilderness' area displaying native species. The heart of the zoo is the 'African Journey' which takes you into the world of the African Savanna, complete with exotic transplants from the continent such as black- tailed prairie dogs, cranes, sitatungas, African crested porcupines, tortoises, African leopards, cheetahs, monkeys and chimpanzees, giraffes, lions, lemurs, elephants and camels. In contrast, the 'Polar Bear Watch' features 2 polar bears - Magnet and Anoki along with other Arctic species.
