A major waterway in central Osaka, the Kyu-Yodo River stretches over 8.6 miles from the Yodo River at Kema Bay to the Osaka Bay. Its various sections are locally known as Okawa, Dojima, Tosabori and Ajigawa. There are pretty promenades running along its banks, with picturesque cherry blossoms that draw visitors during hanami in spring. The Nakanoshima island in the middle of the river is an important area, with several government and commercial establishments.
