Revered in Ancient Greece as the birthplace of Apollo and Artemis, Delos is a UNESCO World Heritage Site recognized for bearing traces of Aegean civilizations from the 3rd millennium BC to the palaeochristian era and influencing architecture of the Greco-Roman period. Only 5 kms long, the island is a treasure trove of archaeological finds that throw up vital information about its history. Take a ferry from Mykonos Harbour, and spend the day exploring the area. Walk around to see the Sanctuary of Apollo and Artemis, Agora of the Competialists, Ionic Naiskos, Stoa of Philip gifted by Philip V of Macedon, Terrace of the Lions gifted by the citizens of Naxos, Minoan Fountain, Stoivadeion, Sacred Lake, and ruins of various temples.
