Palazzo Reale is a magnificent 17thcentury palace constructed for the Balbi family to designs by Pier Francesco Cantone. The Baroque palace is home to the Galleria di Palazzo Reale Museum, showcasing grand rooms furnished in the 18th century by the Durazzo family and in the 19th century by the Savoy. Get bedazzled by the Galleria degli Specchi (Hall of Mirrors), admire the frescoes in the Sala di Valerio Castello and Galleria della Cappella (Gallery of the Chapel) from the 18thcentury. The Sala del Trono (Throne Room), the Sala delle Udienze (Presence Chamber), and the Salone da Ballo (Ballroom) decorated by the Savoy are also richly furnished. There is a wealth of art on display by the likes of Bernardo Strozzi, il Grechetto, Bassano, Tintoretto, and Anthony van Dyck. Every element of the palace has been tastefully added and maintained, from the risseu mosaics in the courtyard to the manicured terraced gardens.
