Faneuil Hall, Boston

Fanueil Hall was built in 1742 as an old market building at the town dock, but later went on to become an integral part of the American Revolution.

Fanueil Hall was built in 1742 as an old market building at the town dock, but later went on to become an integral part of the American Revolution. It hosted America's first Town Meeting as well as subsequent ones between 1764 and 1774. It was from here that Samuel Adams and others lead cries of protest against the Sugar Act and Stamp Act. The building was enlarged in 1806 by Charles Bulfinch. Atop the cuppola is the gilded grasshopper weather vane, which was used to identify spies in the War of 1812. Frederick Douglass, William Lloyd Garrison, and Lucy Stone brought their struggles for freedom.

The commercial Fanueil Hall Marketplace is just behind it.
