The Boston Public Garden, Boston

The Boston Public Garden is the largest and oldest botanical garden in the United States, dating back to 1837.

The Boston Public Garden is the largest and oldest botanical garden in the United States, dating back to 1837. Featuring a plethora of diverse plant life, native and foreign trees, and a seasonal arrangement of flowers, it is a National Historic Landmark. The garden also has numerous fountains and statues such as the George Washington statue and Ether Monument. In the corner of the park closest to Charles Street are the famous bronze duckling sculptures by Nancy Sch?n, based on Robert McCloskey's children's book, 'Make Way For Ducklings'. The 4 acre pond in the garden centre is home to turtles, swans, ducks, comorants, and herons, with the world's smallest suspension bridge above it. In summers, you can take a 15 minute cruise over the lagoon on a Swan Boat, one of the most famous and traditional icons of Boston. Founded in 1877 by British immigrant and engineer Robert Paget, the 6 boats have fiberglass swans which offer a cool photo op as you enjoy a leisurely ride.
