Paul Revere House, Boston

The Paul Revere House is the oldest building in downtown Boston, dating back to 1680.

The Paul Revere House is the oldest building in downtown Boston, dating back to 1680. Built on the site of the former parsonage of the Second Church of Boston, the 3-storey Georgian house was owned by the Revere family from 1770 to 1800. It was from here that he set off on his historic 'Midnight Ride' to warm about the incoming British Army. While Paul Revere stayed elsewhere from the 1780s onwards, and the house was remodeled in the 19th century, it has been restored to its original 17th century appearance as faithfully as possible from records. It has period furniture, large fireplaces, Revere's handcrafted silverware, and descriptions of the rooms. The ground floor has a large hall, and typical late-18th century kitchen with cooking implements, while upstairs are the bed chambers with colonial furnishings.
