The East Side Gallery is the longest stretch of the Berlin Wall still in existence, a 1.3 km long section in central Berlin along the Spree river. Painted by artists from all over the world in 1990 and restored in 2009, it presents 105 striking murals on various themes, echoing the vibe of the times.

The most iconic mural here is Dmitri Vrubel’s ‘My God, Help Me to Survive this Deadly Love’ depicting Leonid Brezhnev and Erich Honecker in a fraternal embrace. Other well-known works include Birgit Kinder’s ‘Test the Rest’ showing a Trabant breaking through the wall, Thierry Noir’s faces in ‘Homage to the Young Generation’, Thomas Klingenstein’s ‘Detour to the Japanese Sector’, Shamil Gimajew’s ‘We are A People’, and Narendra Jain’s ‘The Seven Stages of Enlightenment’.
