9/11 Memorial, New York

The 9/11 Memorial was built on Ground Zero to remember and honor the people who lost their lives in the attack on the former World Trade Center twin towers.

The 9/11 Memorial was built on Ground Zero to remember and honor the people who lost their lives in the attack on the former World Trade Center twin towers. On the footprints of the towers are twin reflecting pools with enormous man-made waterfalls, bordered by bronze panels inscribed with the names of the 2,983 men, women, and children killed in the attacks of September 11, 2001 and the February 26, 1993 WTC bombings. The Memorial Hall occupies the space between the footprints of the North and South Towers of the World Trade Center, marking the location of the fallen towers. In Memoriam, the memorial exhibition, has a 'Wall of Faces' commemorating the lives of those who died on September 11, 2001 and the February 26, 1993. The Historical Exhibition at the museum explores the events surrounding the attack on the World Trade Center, shining light on the motivation for the attacks, as well as the aftermath. Choose an expert guided tour for a better understanding of the broad context of the memorial. Alternately, you can download the audio guide from their website.
